Radio Station: Current Status
Although we have been verified as
the choice by the FCC to build a new FM radio
station in our area, we are currently waiting
for the Mexico version of the FCC to give us
their blessing. Due to the geographical
proximity to the boarder with Mexico and an
agreement made by the United States and Mexico
years ago; we must receive a clearing from
Mexico to construct our station and get it on
the air. They have to be assured that we are not
violating their air space with our broadcasts.
The process is very slow and this
can be (and has been) tied up for months. In the
meantime, if you would continue to pray for the
Lord’s blessing and for resources to build the
station once we receive the Construction Permit
(CP).
Upon the issue of the CP we will
have 18 months to get the radio station on the
air. If at the end of that 18 month time frame
we are not ready to go on air, we are allowed to
file for an additional 18 month period to
complete the construction and get the station on
air.
In the meanwhile
we are looking at launching an internet radio
site which will allow us the opportunity to test
out the programming and the technological end of
uploading and broadcasting music and teaching
programs. Once this process has been worked out,
we will use the Internet Radio site to advertise
the actual radio station and vice a versa.
There are yet
several calculated costs to getting the station
on the air:
Additional
Engineer fees
Transmitter and
installation
Tower site lease,
purchase or build
Computer system
and associated software
License purchase
for airing copyrighted music
How shall we pay
for these items:
Your personal
gifts to the Media Ministry (mark gifts as
“Media Ministry”)
Gifts or Grants
from various Christian Philanthropists and
Organizations (There are some who will give
without need for recognition)
Churches and
business sponsorship for particular programs or
specific radio time (“This half hour of Praise
and Worship music was sponsored by XYZ
Accounting”)
Church and Radio
ministries paying for actual radio program time
(this will come eventually, but not at first)
